Wish me luck.

The year has started with my revising His Majesty's Confidential Agent and getting it ready to be sent out to agents. The story is more mainstream than the previous two and I live in hope that it might be my "breakout novel". That means getting a bigger publisher to look at it, and that means finding an agent.

People have been very positive about Cawnpore and it has had some very good reviews (particularly the one from the Historical Novel Society), but, though sales are quite good for a small publisher, you're not about to see a pile of copies stacked in the entrance to WHSmiths. So I've not actually been writing a book the past couple of weeks. No, I've been writing and re-writing the one-page synopsis that has to persuade the agent that they want to look at some of the 98,000 words of the actual novel. (That's a little bit longer than Cawnpore.) Now it's time to send it out, and then wait... And wait... And wait...

Cross your fingers for me.
